How booking works
You book
Book online and your time is confirmed straight away. I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and I'm not an emergency service. If it isn't a job for me, I'll say so and point you to someone who can help, rather than going quiet on you.
You'll know when I'm coming
You choose a start time when you book, not a morning or an afternoon. It is an estimate, because the job before yours can finish early or run on. When I set off to you, you get a text with a link that shows where I am, so you can see when I'll be at the door.
Properties in South Molton with a cylinder
Older houses in the town and many larger family homes have a hot water cylinder rather than a combi. If yours is unvented, it needs an annual service by a G3-qualified engineer, and I can do it on the same visit. A standard gas boiler service and unvented cylinder service on the same visit is £157, instead of £210 booked separately. With the full gas boiler service it is £237, instead of £290. Both prices include VAT. It costs less because it's one visit instead of two, and it can't be combined with any other reduction.
What happens during a South Molton boiler service
Before I touch anything, I ask how the boiler has been behaving. Noises, slow hot water or a pressure gauge that drifts are all worth mentioning.
With the boiler running, I test the combustion with a flue gas analyser, check the gas pressure and watch how it lights and runs.
With the case off, I inspect the inside, clean what the service covers and check the seals. On a standard service I clean the condensate trap and the magnetic filter. Other parts I can reach are inspected, and if something needs cleaning or replacing, I explain why and give you a price before doing it.
Before I leave, I check the flue and the terminal, run the boiler through heating and hot water, and give you a written record.
Does your boiler need the full service this year?
It does if it's a Viessmann, or if the burner and heat exchanger haven't had a full clean for a few years. If not, the standard service is the one to book. It covers the normal safety and combustion checks, plus routine checks and cleaning of the parts I can reach. It does not include taking the burner out, a new burner gasket or the Full gas boiler service clean.
A Full gas boiler service is £185 including VAT. It adds a new burner gasket, a full clean of the heat exchanger and burner, and inspection and cleaning of the ignition electrodes and the flame sensor. Most boilers need the full service every three to five years, depending on how hard they work. Viessmann boilers need it every year, because of how the burner and heat exchanger are built.
