Two services on one visit cost less. A boiler service with a landlord gas safety check is £145 (£225 with the full service). A boiler service with an unvented cylinder service is £157 (£237 with the full service). All including VAT.

A text before I arrive
You pick the time when you book. When I set off, you get a text with a link to track me, so you'll know if the job before yours finished early or ran on.

Book online and your time is confirmed straight away. I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Agree the parts price before anything's fitted
The labour is £220 however long it takes. Once I've found the fault, you get a fixed price for any parts, and nothing goes in until you've approved it. After that, I remind you when the next service or gas safety check is due.

What people want to know before they let a new engineer into their home.
How much does a boiler repair cost?
It's a fixed price: £220 including VAT for all the labour to get your boiler working again, however long it takes. That includes travel and any return visit to fit a part I've had to order. Parts are extra, and I give you a fixed price for them before anything's fitted. If you decide not to go ahead, or it can't sensibly be repaired, you only pay £105 for the visit. A few bigger jobs, such as a new heat exchanger or a flue repair, are priced separately, and my terms list them all.
How much is a boiler service?
A standard gas boiler service is £105 including VAT. The full service is £185 including VAT and adds a new burner gasket and a full clean of the heat exchanger and burner.
Is there a call-out or travel charge?
Travel is included in every price, and I don't add a travel charge anywhere I cover. Coming out to a repair is part of the £220 fixed labour price, not a separate charge. If you decide not to go ahead, you only pay £105 for the visit.
When can you come?
I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You pick the time on the booking page and it's confirmed straight away, and when I set off you get a text with a link that shows when I'll arrive. I'm not an emergency or out-of-hours service: if you smell gas, leave the property and call 0800 111 999 first.
Who will come to my house?
Me, George Lane. Tarka Boilers has one engineer, and it's me. I do every job myself, from the first visit to the finished work. My Gas Safe number is 515374.
Why are your reviews from Kent?
Because Tarka Boilers is new to North Devon. Before I moved here I ran Thames Boilers in Kent, and every review on this site is from one of those customers. Each one is labelled so you know where it came from.
Can my old boiler be repaired?
It depends on the fault and whether the parts are still made. I'll diagnose it properly and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing. I don't sell boilers, so I have no reason to push a new one.
Are your repairs guaranteed?
Parts I fit are guaranteed for 12 months, including the labour to put them right, whatever the age of your boiler. The guarantee covers the parts I fit and my work, not the rest of the boiler or system. If sludge caused the fault, I'll still repair it, but that repair isn't guaranteed unless the system has been flushed and a magnetic filter fitted. I'll tell you that before I start, not after.
Are you Gas Safe registered and insured?
Yes. My Gas Safe number is 515374, and you can check it on the Gas Safe Register before I arrive. I'm also fully insured.
Do you work on oil, LPG or new boilers?
No. I work on mains-gas boilers only, and I don't install or replace boilers. For oil, look for an OFTEC-registered engineer. For LPG, look for a Gas Safe engineer registered for LPG work.
