Before you book: is there a tank in the garden?
Plenty of properties out towards the moor are off the mains gas network and run on oil or LPG. I work on mains gas only. If there's a tank, you'll need an OFTEC-registered engineer for oil. I don't work on LPG boilers. For LPG, you need a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers LPG work.
I'd rather you found that out here than after booking a visit.
What does an Exmoor winter do to a condensing boiler?
A hard frost can freeze the condensate pipe solid and shut the boiler down, usually on the coldest morning of the year. Every modern boiler drains water from its flue gases through that thin plastic pipe, and on many houses it runs outside. At this height it freezes more often than it does in the valleys, and the boiler stops as soon as it senses the blockage.
It can usually be thawed on the visit. The lasting fix is to insulate the pipe, make it wider, or re-route it indoors, so it doesn't freeze again next winter. I look at the condensate run on every service up here.

Almost always a frozen condensate pipe. When it thaws, the boiler runs again. Insulating or re-routing the pipe stops it happening every winter.

Distance isn't the problem: travel is included anywhere in the parish. The fuel is the question, so tell me whether you're on mains gas when you book.
