Lynton and Lynmouth get the same service as Barnstaple: mains-gas boiler servicing and repairs, heating faults and landlord gas safety checks, all done by me, George Lane. My Gas Safe registration is 515374.
The road in goes round Exmoor rather than across it, up through Blackmoor Gate on the A39. Travel is included all the same, so you pay the same prices as anyone in Barnstaple.

Gas, oil or LPG? Ask this first
I work on mains-gas boilers only, and on this edge of Exmoor plenty of homes, especially the cottages and farms outside the two villages, run on oil or LPG instead. If there's a tank outside, the boiler needs a different engineer. Oil needs an OFTEC-registered engineer. I don't work on LPG boilers. For LPG, you need a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers LPG work.

Victorian villas, cottages and a lot of lets
Lynton is the upper village and Lynmouth the harbour below, joined by the water-powered cliff railway. Much of the housing is Victorian, built when the villages grew as a resort: large villas and guest houses, many now split into flats or let to holiday guests, along with older stone cottages.
Big Victorian houses tend to have heating that was put in long after they were built and changed several times since. Radiators on the top floor that never get hot, and pumps that struggle with the height, are common. If you let a property here, the landlord gas safety check is due every 12 months, and I'll time it around your changeovers. A landlord gas safety check for one appliance, with the certificate, is £105 including VAT. Each extra appliance is £30, or £80 for each extra gas fire.
You book
Book online and your time is confirmed straight away. I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and I'm not an emergency service. If it isn't a job for me, I'll say so and point you to someone who can help, rather than going quiet on you.
You'll know when I'm coming
You choose a start time when you book, not a morning or an afternoon. It is an estimate, because the job before yours can finish early or run on. When I set off to you, you get a text with a link that shows where I am, so you can see when I'll be at the door.

Is there a travel charge to Lynton?
No. Travel to Lynton and Lynmouth is included in every price, and so is travel to the villages further east.
Can you get a van up the steep streets?
Yes. Parking can be tight near the top of Lynton and around the harbour in Lynmouth, especially in summer, so tell me where the nearest space is when you book.
When should I book a service here?
In spring or early summer. Up here, a boiler that fails in January is a cold house for longer, so it's worth having it serviced before the weather turns.
I let a flat in Lynmouth but live elsewhere. Can you still do the gas safety check?
Yes. A key holder or agent can let me in, and the certificate is emailed to you.
