Swimbridge is about 7 miles from South Molton, which makes it the nearest place I cover. That is worth saying plainly: for a village this size, getting a Gas Safe engineer out at short notice is usually the hard part, and here it is not.
The village is best known for the Reverend John Russell, vicar here from the 1830s, whose terriers gave the Jack Russell its name, and the pub still carries it. The housing is a village core of stone and rendered cottages with newer property around the edges, and a large rural parish behind it running up towards the moor.
That rural parish is the thing to check. A good number of properties outside the village are off the mains gas network and run on oil or LPG. I work on mains gas only. If there is a tank in your garden, you need an OFTEC registered engineer for oil, or a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers LPG. Worth establishing that before a visit is booked.
