Heating Engineer in South Molton & Rural North Devon

South Molton is where I'm based. I look after the town, Barnstaple and communities right across North Devon, and travel charges are worked out by road distance from here.

I'm George Lane, a Gas Safe registered heating engineer serving Barnstaple and North Devon. South Molton is a market town of around 4,000 people in the EX36 postcode. The sort of town that's been quietly getting on with things for centuries, with a market square, some solid Georgian architecture, and exactly the housing mix you'd expect from a Devon country town: a terrace here, a farmhouse conversion there, newer builds on the edge.

Like the rest of North Devon, the water around South Molton is soft, which is kind to boilers and cylinders. Limescale is far less of a problem here than in much of the country.

There are plumbers based locally, and I'm not going to pretend proximity doesn't count for something. It does. But the usual alternative is a larger firm driving in from further afield. I bring 25+ years of specialist gas heating experience, and if you'd rather speak directly to the engineer who's going to do the work than go through a booking system, that's what you get with me.

South Molton itself is on mains gas, so everything above applies in full. But a good number of properties in the surrounding parishes (the farmhouses and cottages around Chulmleigh, Witheridge, and the Molton valley) are off the gas grid. Plenty of them run on oil or LPG.

My boiler and appliance work is mains gas only. LPG boiler work needs an appropriately LPG-qualified Gas Safe engineer, and oil boiler work needs an OFTEC-registered engineer. If you're not sure which fuel your property uses, your energy bill should tell you.

For the town itself and the residential estates, there's nothing to worry about.
