Heating Engineer in Chulmleigh, Devon
Gas Safe registered heating engineer serving Chulmleigh and surrounding areas. Boiler repairs, servicing, gas safety checks, and more.
A Hilltop Wool Town, Mostly Off the Gas Grid
Chulmleigh is a medieval wool town sat on a hill above the Taw valley, with a tight grid of streets around Fore Street and the church and a lot of listed and thatched property in the middle of it. It's about 8 miles from South Molton, twenty minutes, so it's genuinely local to me rather than an outlying job I have to plan a day around.
Read this bit before you call. Much of Chulmleigh and the parish around it is off the mains gas network. Oil and LPG are common here, and I work on mains gas only: oil needs an OFTEC registered engineer, and LPG needs a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers that work. If there's a tank in the garden or a filler point on an outside wall, I'm not the right person for the appliance, and I'd far rather tell you that on the phone than after a wasted trip.
If you are on mains gas, everything I do is available here, and the response time is better than most places simply because you're close to home for me. The older property in the centre brings the usual solid-wall considerations: awkward flue routes, systems that have been extended a bit at a time over the years, and radiators sized for a way of living nobody has any more.
I'm George Lane, Gas Safe registered, based in South Molton.
When You Book Me
You'll get an answer. Ring or message during the working day and you'll hear back the same day; evenings and weekends, it'll be the next working day. And if it isn't a job for me, I'll tell you that and point you at someone who can help, rather than going quiet on you.
When you book, I'll confirm it and give you a two-hour window rather than a whole day sat at home waiting. On the morning you get a text with a tracking link, so you can see where I've got to instead of wondering. Traffic and the job before yours are real, so it's a window rather than a promise to the minute, but if it slips you'll hear it from me first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cover Chulmleigh?
Yes, for mains gas work. Chulmleigh is about 8 miles from me, which is closer than most of the coast.
Does it cost more to come out to Chulmleigh?
No. Chulmleigh is about 8 miles by road from South Molton, well inside the 25 mile radius where travel is included.
How do I know whether I am on mains gas?
If you get a gas bill from an energy supplier and there's no tank in the garden, you're on mains gas. If there is a tank, or you order deliveries, it's oil or LPG and you'll need a differently qualified engineer.
My cottage is listed. Does that stop you working on it?
No, not for servicing or repairs. It can matter if a job would move the flue or the appliance, and I'll tell you that before I start rather than halfway through.
