A hilltop market town, and the farms around it

Torrington sits high above the Torridge, with the commons falling away below the town. The centre is Georgian and Victorian, with terraces and town houses around the square, and newer housing on the edges. Out in the EX38 parishes, the picture changes to farmhouses, cottages and barn conversions.

Is an old boiler worth repairing?
Often, yes, and in a town with this much older housing, it's a question I expect to hear. It depends on what has failed, whether the part is still made, and what shape the rest of the boiler is in. I find the fault first, then give you a straight answer.

It's the same whether the fix takes ten minutes or all afternoon. Parts are extra: once I've found the fault, I give you a fixed price for any parts, and nothing's fitted until you've approved it. If you'd rather not go ahead, or the repair isn't worth doing, you only pay £105 for the visit and the diagnosis.
There's no new boiler for me to sell you, so the advice stays about yours. If a repair doesn't make sense for a boiler of that age, I'll show you why and leave the decision with you.

Book online and your time is confirmed straight away. I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and I'm not an emergency service. If it isn't a job for me, I'll say so and point you to someone who can help, rather than going quiet on you.

Frequently asked questions
My farmhouse is on oil. Can you help?
Not with the boiler. Oil needs an OFTEC-registered engineer, and I work on mains gas only. I don't work on LPG boilers. For LPG, you need a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers LPG work.
How do I tell if the house is on mains gas?
In the town, most homes are. Out in the parishes, look for a tank in the garden or fuel deliveries. If you have neither and a gas meter, you're on mains gas.
I have several rented properties around Torrington. Can you do them together?

Can new controls help an old system in a Torrington terrace?
