How booking works
You book
Book online and your time is confirmed straight away. I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and I'm not an emergency service. If it isn't a job for me, I'll say so and point you to someone who can help, rather than going quiet on you.
You'll know when I'm coming
You choose a start time when you book, not a morning or an afternoon. It is an estimate, because the job before yours can finish early or run on. When I set off to you, you get a text with a link that shows where I am, so you can see when I'll be at the door.
Holiday let properties in the valley
Plenty of lets in Combe Martin are booked through the summer and quiet in winter. The quiet months are the time to book the check. You can renew up to two months before the current certificate expires and keep the same expiry date, so an early check costs you nothing.
Some cottages up the lanes run on oil or LPG rather than mains gas. My checks cover mains-gas appliances only. I don't work on LPG boilers. For LPG, you need a Gas Safe engineer whose registration covers LPG work.
What you have to do as a landlord
Every gas appliance you provide has to be checked each year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. You keep the record for two years and give tenants a copy: within 28 days of the check for existing tenants, and before they move in for new ones. The law is the same for a holiday let as a long let. The HSE sets it out in its guidance for landlords.
Results you can act on
Each appliance comes out as safe, at risk or immediately dangerous. If one fails, I explain why in plain words and give you a fixed price for putting it right before I do any work. You can use another Gas Safe engineer for the repair if you'd rather.
